A stylishly furnished hotel on Pelican Bay, Solymar consists of two distinct parts on two sides of centrally located Avenida Charles Darwin. On the north side of the street, the 2011 Torre Isla Sol annex has the most modern rooms, but guests will likely prefer the original, Torre Principal, for the bayside views, balconies, and better protection from street noise. (Do make sure you don't book the only room in Torre Principal that doesn’t have a view of the bay.) It is more than $100 more expensive than the four-story Torre Isla Sol across the street, however. The pool is on the narrow side for the price of the hotel, best for lounging and watching the marine iguanas, sea lions, and pelicans that like to visit. Bathroom furnishings are less modern in style than the rooms, which have king- or full- sized beds.
