If the term "lodge" conjures up images of a wooden hideaway in a jungle or safari setting, the name of this place is somewhat misleading as, from the outside at least, the Isabela has a contemporary styling much more at home in Mexico. That said, its warm yet airy wood-clad dining area, with ceiling fans and large cream curtains to keep out the midday sun, does have a note of what you might expect from a wilderness lodge. The upscale, large rooms (the most attractive ones face the sandy beach) have a stately, modern décor that keeps to the cream-and-tan color scheme and boast queen-size beds and rattan armchairs. You will want to spend some time on the outdoor terraces, taking in the expansive view from atop the building or relaxing underneath the palm trees that jut through the fine wooden deck nearest the beach.
