As you turn off Dugi Targ Street, you come to the Motawa Canal waterfront, a touristy but nevertheless delightful promenade of restaurants, cafes, amber boutiques, and souvenir shops. Street buskers add to the outdoor merriment. Just beyond the Gate of the Holy Spirit (Brama Sw. Ducha) is another Gdansk landmark, the Crane (Zuraw; Szeroka 67/68; tel. 58/301-53-11; www.cmm.pl). Built mid-15th century, it was once the biggest crane in medieval Europe. It is no longer operational, but up until the mid-19th century, it was used to unload cargo as heavy as 4 tons.
