This cheap and cheerful, two-star Belle Époque hotel appeals to budget travelers who don't mind a no-frills atmosphere if it means saving on room costs: The rooms are very basic but spotlessly clean, the bathrooms tiny but adequate. The décor is generally quite quirky, with an abundance of fairy-lights and florid ornaments in public areas, but we especially like the cosy Alpine-chalet atmosphere of the main reception area. The staff are friendly and the buffet breakfasts, with their cold cuts, cereals, and pastries, are big, tasty, and filling. Take note if you need quiet to sleep: Some of the rooms are quite noisy due to the hotel’s proximity to the train station.
