Signal Mountain Trail
Why drive up a mountain when you can hike it? Hoofing it up the peak offers a chance to spot wildlife like bears and mule deer and wander among summer wildflowers—plus bragging rights over everyone who merely motored up. Hike through evergreen forest to a junction at one end of a loop: Take the southern leg on the way up to pass ponds and good wildlife habitat. Press on to Jackson Point Overlook (the trail stops short of the summit) for picture-perfect views of Mountain Moran and the rest of the Tetons, Jackson Lake, and the Snake River. Hike the northern leg of the loop on the way back for views along this wide-open ridge.

Mountains Majesty
A wide-open meadow near the summit of Signal Mountain presents an excellent opportunity to look to the west for photos of both Mount Moran and the Teton Range. The best time to take those photos is before 11am, when the sun will be mostly at your back, or in the early evening, when the sun will be lower in the sky to the west.
