This isolated luxury lodge, a member of the swank Relais & Châteaux, features large bungalows scattered over a hillside with idyllic views within a 500-acre private cloud forest reserve. The eco-chic bungalow suites each offer a king bed (with regal bedding), a sitting area with built-in couches that convert to two twin beds, a spacious balcony and an outdoor Jacuzzi, with privacy provided by bamboo screening. The two-bedroom suites and villas are the only units here that come with TVs. There are trails around the grounds and private reserve, as well as a top-notch spa and open-air yoga studio; classes and hikes are often included in nightly costs. El Silencio also runs its own waterfall rappel canyoning and zipline canopy tour operations. On-site organic gardens supply the kitchen, which specializes in spa cuisine. To get here, you must first drive to Sarchí. From the Palí supermarket in the center of town, head north and follow the signs. El Silencio is 22km (13 miles) outside of Sarchí.
