Hospedería del Real Monasterio
When you come down for dinner in the Gothic cloister, you’ll find a printed place card with your name on it at your table, preceded by a formal Don or Doña. They do things properly at the Hospedería. The food is perhaps a little institutional, but it’s hearty and great value—ideal for the hungry pilgrim. It’s best to stick with the set price menú de la casa. Say, Guadalupe’s traditional tomato soup with grapes, followed by confit pork knuckle with red fruits, and cheesecake with peach. Wine isn’t included, but the wines from the nearby Bodegas Ruiz Torres are a bargain.
