National Maritime Museum
This third branch of the Haifa Museum, near Bat Galim, encompasses 5,000 years of seafaring history in the Mediterranean and the Red Sea. These include archaeological collections of Mediterranean cultures from the beginning of history until the Islamic conquest in the 7th century. There are outstanding exhibitions of Greco-Roman culture, Coptic art, painted portraits from Fayum, coins from Caesarea and Acre, terra cottas of all periods, and finds from the Haifa area. The artifacts obtained through underwater archaeology are particularly impressive. The marvelous ethnology section of the Haifa Museum is also located here, but due to limited space, little of it is on display.
