The Haifa Museum of Art
The first branch of the Haifa Museum (the other two are the Tikotin Museum of Japanese Art and the National Maritime Museum) is home to a strong collection of contemporary painting, sculpture, and prints by Israeli and foreign artists, but with an emphasis on Israeli art. The museum is divided into five areas, each containing a different category of art or type of exhibit: emerging Israeli art, centering on artists who have never shown in a museum before; new mediums; a special presentation of installation art; "personal choice," containing an Israeli cultural figure's selection from the museum's collection with commentary; and a special visiting exhibition or headline exhibit from the museum's collection.
