With money earned from working the sugar plantations, a number of Japanese immigrants bought small farms and became pioneers in growing coffee. Learn more about their daily lives during the 1920s to 1940s and how their flavorful, hand-picked beans are still produced today on the 5 1/2-acre Uchida Coffee Farm, where costumed interpreters demonstrate tasks and “talk story” with visitors. After you explore the vintage farmhouse, stroll through the orchards of coffee and macadamia nut trees, meet the chickens and donkey, and pick up a bag of 100-percent Kona coffee.
