Tairawhiti Museum
This small but vibrant museum contains an impressive collection of Maori artifacts. Its semi-permanent exhibition: "Watersheds Nga Waipupu" provides a snapshot of the history of Gisborne and the East Coast. Also of note is the Star of Canada Maritime Gallery, which covers 1,000 years of maritime history, from the coming of the Maori and Captain James Cook to local surfing culture.
