Tairawhiti Museum

This small but vibrant museum contains an impressive collection of Maori artifacts in the semi-permanent exhibition Watersheds Nga Waipupu, a display that provides a snapshot of all of Gisborne and East Coast history. All this is balanced by the Star of Canada Maritime Gallery, which covers 1,000 years of maritime history, from the coming of the Maori and Captain James Cook to local surfing culture.
