Seven nights a week, this cozy locale is the place to be seen in Hilton Head. Since opening in 1999, crowds here have caught George Shearing, Freddy Cole, and dozens of other luminaries. The Jazz Corner is under the able direction of Bob Masteller, who carefully orchestrates unique "American Songbook"-style celebrations, CD release parties, and conversations with jazz legends. Things get started around 8pm, with ticket prices hovering around $15. Performances tend to sell out weeks in advance, so you'll need to call ahead to reserve a spot. The interior is comfortable and classy, and appropriately dimly lit. Upscale food (she-crab soup, bacon-wrapped pork tenderloin) is offered for those who are hungry, but the music is the main draw. Those who enjoy spirituous adventures can try out a Count Basie Cosmo or a Bit O'Brubeck, blending Frangelico, vanilla vodka, and cream.
