Wind & Kite Surfing

Strong coastal winds and sheltered bays give much of the North Coast and the Bay Islands excellent wind- and kite-surfing conditions. Neither sport has caught on to a mass audience yet, but a few dedicated operators are helping to change that.

Kite Honduras (tel. 504/3312-8439; www.kitehonduras.com), on Roatán, has beginner to advanced lessons using IKO instruction methods, with board rentals and repairs, as well as customized trips for advanced riders. Wind Surf Honduras (tel. 504/2445-3292; www.windsurfhonduras.com) has the largest collection of board rentals in Honduras and gives lessons ranging from $40 for 1 1/2 hours to $110 for 6 hours.
