With some of the longest rivers and unexplored whitewater in Central America, Honduras is quickly earning a name for itself in the rafting world. The Rio Cangrejal (Class III-V), which runs through Pico Bonito National Park, is one of the best whitewater rivers in Central America for both the scenery and the quality of the rapids. Other rivers -- mostly in Olancho and La Mosquitia -- such as the Río Plátano (Class II-IV), Río Patuca (Class II), and Río Sico (Class II-IV), have quality rapids, as well, though they are multiday adventures, and rapids may appear on only part of the route.
