It helps if you know even a little of the background to Erik Satie before you visit the wonderfully whimsical museum in the house where he was born in 1866. The composer, perhaps best known for his Gymnopédies piano compositions, was also part of the Surrealist and Dadaist crowd and was great friends with Picasso and Cocteau. So don’t be surprised by the giant bizarre pear sculpture at the start of the tour, which is enhanced by the equally eccentric audio guide. Tip: You’ll need to apply a little pedal power for one of the exhibits.
