This modest hotel managed by the Catholic Diocese of Hong Kong is one of my tops picks. Located in the Mid-Levels in a neighborhood of apartment highrises favored by working professionals, it's a great place to stay if you want to pretend you're actually living here. Although its hillside perch is a bit far from the action, the Central–Mid-Levels Escalator is just a short walk away, and every hour or so the hotel provides a free shuttle to Central, Admiralty, and the convention center in Wan Chai; many city buses also pass by its front door. And there's a bonus to being so high—great views of Central's skyscrapers and even glimpses of the harbor from its more expensive twins and suites (singles and doubles face inland). All bathrooms have showers only, but there's a small but pleasant outdoor pool, a reading room, and a restaurant with outdoor seating.
