This lodge, managed by the social welfare branch of the Catholic Church, is on a quiet side street, yet it's just a block from Nathan Road and a few minutes walk to the jade and night markets. Better yet, all the rooms face the even quieter back side of the hotel, where there's a tree-covered cliff and small park (if you can, get a room on a higher floor). Although it doesn't offer much in terms of facilities, its rooms are as nice as those in any inexpensive hotel and its prices are generally much lower than the rack rates given here, making it very much a bargain. Note though that most bathrooms have showers only. It's also a popular choice for solo travelers and for families. Although this utilitarian property has the best location, there are two other sister properties, Caritas Lodge at 134 Boundary St. (852/2339-3777), and Caritas Oswald Cheung International House in Aberdeen (852/2903-0263), with more information on the website below.
