These are the smallest hotel rooms I've seen in Hong Kong, but if you want to sleep cheap in Central (near Lan Kwai Fong, I might add, but a killer walk uphill from Central), this is it. Three types of rooms, all nonsmoking, are available: Solo, measuring just 7.5 square meters (80 sq. ft.) for single travelers; Mini, ranging from 9 to 11 square meters (100–120 sq. ft.) and facing another building; and Smart, same size as the Mini, but with views out to the street. Luckily, rooms are painted white and have mirrors to help alleviate their claustrophobic size, but with the glass-enclosed shower in one corner and the toilet weirdly exposed in another (where they might double as an extra chair?), it's hard not to imagine you're in jail. Still, staff claims that travelers ranging from backpackers to business types stay here (there are also two floors reserved for women). In any case, mini hotel must be doing something right, because it has opened a second location at 8 Sun Wui Road, Causeway Bay (852/3979-1199), with more choices in lodging, including 22 family rooms.
