Gay & Lesbian Clubs in Hong Kong

The gay scene in Hong Kong is fairly low key, but it's a lot more visible now than it used to be. Hong Kong's longest-standing and most popular gay disco is Propaganda, 1 Hollywood Rd., Central (tel. 852/2868 1316; MTR: Central), with a discreet entrance in a back alley (it's a bit hard to find; look for the alley off Pottinger St.). Only about 5% of the people who come through the doors are straight, but everyone is welcome; cover ranges from HK$100 to HK$240, and it's open Tuesday through Saturday. Other popular gay venues include Zoo, 33 Jervois St., Sheung Wan (tel. 852/3583 1200; MTR: Sheung Wan); T:ME, 65 Hollywood Rd., Central (tel. 852/2332 6565; www.time-bar.com); Volume, 83-85 Hollywood Rd., Central (tel. 852/2857 7683; www.volume.com.hk; MTR: Central); and Deja Vu, 41 Staunton, Central (tel. 852/3481 9996; MTR: Central). In addition, several bars have dedicated gay nights, including Club 97 on Friday nights.
