Getting There

By Bus & Grand Taxi -- The bus and grand taxi stations sit side by side behind the municipal market off the Ifrane-Meknes road, about .5km (1/3 mile) from the village square. CTM and private buses from Casablanca (5 1/2 hr.; 130dh) travel via Rabat (5 hr.; 95dh) and Meknes (1 hr.; 35dh). Those coming from Marrakech (8 hr.; 120dh-145dh) travel via Beni Mellal (4 hr.; 80dh). There are also both CTM and private buses from Fes (1 hr.; 35dh) and Midelt (3 1/2 hr.; 70dh).

Grands taxis depart throughout the day from Fes (1 hr.; 50dh), Meknes (1 hr.; 50dh), and Midelt (3 hr.; 80dh).

Village Layout -- The road from Meknes, boulevard Mohammed V, intersects with avenue des Tilleuls, which eventually passes the north side of the village square. Two parallel roads head south for 50m (165 ft.) from the square -- avenue de la Marché Verte and rue de la Cascade -- before intersecting with avenue Hassan II, the main road north to Fes.

Fast Facts

Within 100m (330 ft.) south of the open village square, you'll find branches of Banque Populaire, Credit du Maroc, and BMCE, all with ATMs and open Monday to Friday 8:15am to 3:45pm.

The post office is located on the square, and is open Monday to Friday 8am to 4:15pm and Saturday 8 to 11:45am. Just south of the square is Pharmacie Mischliffen, open Monday to Thursday 9am to 12:30pm and 3:30 to 8pm, Friday 9am to noon and 3:30 to 8pm, and Saturday 9am to 1pm.

The mini-supermarket Superette Al Akhawain faces the south side of the square, while Superette des Cigognes, which is also the local beer depot, is 50m (164 ft.) to the west. Both are open daily from 9am to 1:45pm and 3:30 to 8:30pm (closed Tues afternoon).

There are a couple of souvenir and photo shops south of the square. On avenue de la Marché Verte is Caprice Shop, which sells postcards and the Guardian Weekly, and Labo Photo Ismailia, which both stocks and processes film. On rue de la Cascade is the Atlas Souvenir Corner with Moroccan trinkets, maps, and souvenir books. They are all open daily 9am to 7pm and closed between 12 and 2:30pm on Fridays.

Getting Around

The bus and grand taxi stations are only a 10-minute walk from the square.
