The first Western-style park built in South Korea, Jayu ("Freedom") Park borders the older areas of the city. Originally called Manguk ("All Nations") Park, its name was changed after General Douglas MacArthur's statue was erected here in 1957. Located on Mt. Eungbong, this is where he led the Incheon Amphibious Land Operation during the Korean War. You can see the inner harbor and enjoy the city lights from the pavilion. It's best enjoyed when the cherry blossoms are in bloom in early spring.
