It's hardly a world-class aquarium, but there's more than enough here to occupy your kids on a day when you need a break from the beach. On the edge of the former U.S. Air Force base, its several tanks house over 2,500 specimens from hundreds of Mediterranean and tropical species of fish and invertebrates -- from hunter sharks to tiny sea horses to jellyfish. Various underwater terrains have also been replicated -- it is definitely a professional operation. The whole complex, known as Thalassocosmos (Sea World), belongs to the Hellenic Center for Marine Research. A restaurant and souvenir shop are also on the premises.
