Getting There

Trains leave Euston heading for Birmingham every 30 minutes. Once at the Telford Central Station, take a bus or taxi into Ironbridge. The entire journey takes about 2 1/2 hours. For schedules and information, call tel. 0845/748-4950 or go to www.nationalrail.co.uk.

Four National Express buses daily depart London's Victoria Coach Station, arriving in Telford about 4 hours later. Two of those are direct; the others make a stop in Birmingham. Call tel. 0871/781-81-81, or visit www.nationalexpress.com for information. Local buses that leave Telford for the 20-minute ride to Ironbridge include nos. 9, 39, 76, 77, 96, and 99.

If you're driving from London, take the M1 to the M6 to the M54, which leads directly to Ironbridge.

Visitor Information

The Ironbridge Gorge Tourist Information Centre, the Toll House, Bower Yard (tel. 01952/884391; www.ironbridge.org.uk), is open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
