It’s no wonder guests return annually to one of the best budget hotels I’ve seen in a long time. From the moment you enter the lobby you’re treated with kindness and good cheer, and quickly become part of the family. The largest suite, which books early with guests staying a week or more, has a microwave, flat-screen TV, stove, full-size fridge, and a balcony with a partial sea view. Standard rooms have a small fridge and table. The bathrooms are so clean they look brand new. Extras include shelves of secondhand books for exchange and use of a small kitchen and lounge with microwave, coffeemaker, fridge, and other appliances. There’s a rooftop terrace with views of the sea, and the hotel supplies beach towels and backpack chairs—it’s just a five-minute walk to Playa Norte.
