Across the street from the market, this small, yellow-walled building holds Ruben Chavez’s dream business, a simple café serving tasty, inexpensive meals that drew instant fans the moment it opened. The generous comida corrida includes a trip to the salad bar, soup, entrée, and side dishes for 75 pesos. This isn’t your usual inexpensive lunch, as the selection of entrees could include grilled fish with mango sauce, chicken with chipotle chilies, carne asada, and all sorts of creative preparations.  Breakfast is a hit as well, with homemade sauces and tortillas making a big difference in quality.
