In Tresco -- The island's pub is the New Inn where you can also overnight. In a spectacular setting overlooking the ocean, the pub lies on New Grimsby Harbour, some 50m (164 ft.) from the water. In summer, drinks and food can be enjoyed in the patio garden, with its direct access to the harbor. The food to order, of course, is locally caught fish, including prawns and, our favorite, white crab, but you can also enjoy John Dory, Cornish sea bass, and monkfish. The pub is open daily from 10am to 3pm and 6 to 11pm; meals are served from noon to 3pm and 6 to 9pm. Main courses cost from £6 to £18.

In St. Agnes -- The Turks Head at St. Agnes (tel. 01720/422434) dates from the 1890s, when it was constructed as a boathouse. Prominently located a few steps from the pier, it serves the best beer and ales on island, along with other drinks. It's the second building after the arrival point of the ferryboats from St. Mary's. It's open daily 10:30am to 4:30pm and 6:30 to 11pm.
