Set high in Pinkham Notch, Wildcat combines a rich heritage as a venerable ski resort with the best views of any ski area in the White Mountains. This mountain offers a bountiful supply of intermediate trails, as well as some challenging expert terrain. It's skiing the way it used to be -- no base-area clutter, just a single lodge with an unpretentious cafeteria and a pub. That also means there are no on-slope hotels, condos, or other accommodations, but there are plenty of lodging options within an easy 15-minute drive of the mountain. Ask about ticket packages combining your lift ticket with downhill ski rentals and, if you need some, lessons.
