Riverdale Inn Jacksonville
In turn-of-the-20th-century Jacksonville, more than 50 mansions lined Riverside Avenue in an area known as “the Row.” Today, sadly, only two of these Victorian-style homes remain. The family-owned Riverdale Inn is one of them, and thank goodness for preservation. (The other is at 1541 Riverside Ave.) Riverdale is located within walking distance of restaurants and the Cummer museum. Eleven period guest rooms are available with antique rugs and furniture, some featuring canopy and four-poster beds and fireplaces, and all with Keurig machines and free WiFi. Plush robes are found in all the bathrooms. Breakfast here is bountiful, with cooked-to-order dishes, pancakes, and delicious pecan waffles. A tea room is open Monday through Saturday with advanced reservations only, as it’s a popular spot for ladies who lunch, baby showers, and events, serving traditional English tea and finger sandwiches For a nightcap, there’s an on-site honor bar, a cozy full bar open noon to midnight daily. There’s a two-night minimum on weekends, and a two-person max occupancy per room, making it not an ideal spot for families.
