The hot mineral-water pools -- cooled before they are allowed to touch your skin -- can be enjoyed in an expansive swimming pool or in two soaker pools, surrounded by trees and a sublime mountain skyline with a view of Ashlar Ridge. Campgrounds and a cozy lodge with food and drink are nearby. But the hot springs are only one reason to make this enjoyable side trip: There are also the elk, deer, coyotes, and moose that populate the driving route to Miette, making it one of the best places in the park to view wildlife. And the trail head for one of the best hikes in Jasper, the Sulphur Skyline, is right next door, so you can earn your soak.
