Probably the last thing you'd expect to find in the Giant Mountains of Poland is a 12th-century Norwegian church. This wooden beauty was transplanted here from Norway's Vang valley in 1842 by Prussian King Frederick William IV to serve as a place of worship for the local Lutheran community. It's one of just a handful of old Viking churches to survive anywhere in the world and is an excellent example of Old Nordic sacral architecture. It's located about 4km (2 1/2 miles) outside of the main center of Karpacz in Karpacz Górny. To get there, you can hike (about an hour), take a bus, take a taxi (about 10 z from Karpacz), or drive.
