Facing the large main park, Gan Ha-Atzma'ut, this imposing complex includes the Great Synagogue and the former Seat of the Rabbinate, designed in a rather vague imitation of what was believed to be King Solomon's Temple. Weekly programs -- religious and folk songs, lectures, and readings -- mark the end of Shabbat and the beginning of the new week. For times of traditional religious services, check at Heichal Shlomo, your hotel, or a tourist information office. The Wolfson collection of Judaica, one of the world's finest, can be seen on the fourth floor.
