As the grandparent of the many vegetarian eateries in the gentrified German Colony, Caffit has a panache that keeps locals, travelers, and Jerusalemites from other parts of town coming from early morning to after midnight. The excellent dairy menu is made up of hefty herbed salads, sweet potato pancakes with sour cream, quiches, pastas, and crepes as well as dinner courses, such as pan-fried fish. A selection of wines and alcohol is served. Caffit is such an institution that it was invited to open a branch (tel. 02/648-0003) in Jerusalem’s Botanical Gardens several years ago. Both restaurants offer the same menu.
