Chef Ilan Garousi’s mastery of wildly varied cooking techniques, his deep understanding of spices, and his endless energy combine to give this sleek restaurant a menu that’s inventive, cosmopolitan, and absolutely delicious (it also changes with the seasons). Expect scrumptious seafood dishes cooked and served in copper pans, Stroganoff of beef filet in cream sauce, or his herb and goat cheese capelletti, an unofficial signature dish. The choices are so tempting that Chakra offers a tasting menu for NIS 230 per person (minimum of two people), an assortment of other prix-fixe menus, and Saturday luncheon specials. The alcohol and wine list are as extensive as the food choices. Chakra is usually busy, but the atmosphere is partylike. Come with friends so you can sample and share. Reservations are necessary, because this is one of Israel’s best restaurants at any price.
