With a relaxed but elegant ambience, this kosher branch of Tel Aviv’s famous Tandoori Restaurant is a treat for all visitors, offering an exceptional chance for kosher travelers to sample one of the world’s great cuisines. Start your meal with zafrani lassi, a refreshing chilled drink normally based on Indian “yogurt” and fruit, but here based on soy, as meat is served on the menu. All traditional cream-based sauces are brilliantly recreated using nondairy ingredients. There are examples of many regional cuisines here, including rich South Indian dishes with spicy coconut milk sauces, exotic vegetarian village dishes, and meat dishes with lamb (no beef is served). You can have a simple meal or a banquet fit for a maharajah. Dishes tend to be moderately spiced, but if you prefer fiery traditional Indian seasoning, just let the staff know. You may also want to ask the staff if you can take home a menu, as the explanations of how each dish is made on it could serve (almost) as a recipe book. Reservations recommended.
