Rock Bar
"Will that be on the rocks?" takes on a whole new meaning at AYANA Resort's signature bar. From its cliff top-hugging, 220-acre grounds, take the 40-yard inclinator down limestone cliffs to a truly spectacular watering hole anchored on natural rocks, 45 ft. above sea level in Jimbaran Bay. The ultra-glam, split-level bar and lounge platform—designed with minimalist virtuosity by Tokyo-based Yasuhiro Koichi—is completely open to the elements (admittedly not so much fun in the rainy season), with unobstructed 360-degree Indian Ocean views and waves crashing below. Resident DJs play chilled-out sounds from sunset to late. Get into that rock star frame of mind with robust cocktails and savory bites like rock lobster spring rolls. Sunsets naturally get very busy, but with no reservation system and limited inclinator space (AYANA and sister hotel RIMBA guests get priority access), make sure to arrive by 4pm to avoid the queues. Alternatively, skip sunset and come later: Rock Bar drinking is still magical (and romantic) under twinkling stars, fanned by cool ocean breezes. (As part of a 5-star resort, you can expect 5-star prices and a dress code to match.)
