The down-to-earth El Disparate de Potter (tel. 505/621-3420) makes for a perfect lunch stop while touring the beautiful Matagalpa-Jinotega road. The name refers to a rocky outcrop that was blasted apart by an English landowner while building a road to his coffee farm in the 1920s. The roadside restaurant is popular with locals and serves standard Nicaraguan fare in a space with a great view. (There's even a viewing platform nearby.) The restaurant is open daily from 8:30am to 8pm.
