Planning a trip to Jokulsarlon Region

Getting There -- Þingvallaleið (tel. 511-2600; www.bustravel.is) runs one bus daily between Reykjavík and Höfn in each direction from June 1 to September 15. During the rest of the year, three buses travel in each direction weekly. From mid-June through August, Reykjavík Excursions (tel. 562-1011; www.re.is) has departures twice daily from Skaftafell to Jökulsárlón and back, with 2 to 2 1/2 hours at Jökulsárlón.

Visitor Information -- No tourist information offices serve the area between Skaftafell and Höfn. The website www.oraefi.is has useful information on tours.
