The Goldbelt provides an airtight level of quality hard to find elsewhere in Juneau. A $2-million redo has this hotel on the waterfront boasting contemporary guest rooms with amenities that include flatscreen TVs, iPod docking stations, and Keurig coffee machines. The rooms were already good-sized, and the ones in front serve up views of the Gastineau Channel (less-expensive rooms have mountain views). The renovation also brought a smallish fitness center. The lobby is decorated with museum-quality Native art. Zen, the hotel restaurant, serves Asian-fusion dishes at lunch and dinner (open for breakfast, too). An Avis car-rental booth is located in the lobby.
