Next door to the Silverbow Bakery & Cafe, the oldest operating bakery in Alaska, this boutique hotel is run by the same owners (a husband-and-wife team) with casual but thoughtful hospitality. The highlight is a hot tub on a deck overlooking downtown Juneau. The building dates to mid-1914, but it’s gotten a very contemporary redo. Guests are treated to a complimentary breakfast that befits the bakery connection—including fresh baked scones and yummy banana bread. You can also meet other travelers at a nightly wine tasting. Guest rooms are done up in a cheerful modern decor. Bathrooms are oversize, and beds have 400-thread count sheets. The top-end Mount Jumbo Room comes with a private whirlpool tub; the Large Family Room sleeps four. The bakery is a popular gathering spot; in the back is an arthouse movie theater.
