Getting There

By Car & Bus -- Juticalpa, 170km (106 miles) northeast of Tegucigalpa, can be reached via the paved Hwy. 15 from the capital. Just east of the city is Hwy. 39, which connects with Corocito and Tocoa in the north, where you can transfer to CA 13 that runs along the North Coast to either Trujillo or La Ceiba.

Transportes Discovery/Aurora (tel. 504/2885-2237) sends regular buses to Tegucigalpa (L100; 3 hr.) and Catacamas (L20; 45 min.) from 6am to 4pm at their terminal on the highway at the entrance to town, about 1km (1/2 mile) from the center. The main terminal, across the street, has local bus service to the North Coast and destinations throughout Olancho.

Visitor Information

Banco Atlántida, on the Parque Central, has the town's lone ATM. There are pharmacies and Internet cafes found all over town, while you can make long-distance calls at the Hondutel at 5a Avenidas and Calle 1a.
