A Cafe with a View -- We like to spend an hour or two in summer sitting at the Café Utsikten, Vägga (tel. 454/103-25), set about 1.2km (3/4 mile) south of the town center. It was originally built as a private villa in the 17th century. It's open only from early June to September. Right on the sea, the cafe offers the best view of the Firth of Karlshamn and the 17th-century citadel, the Katellet, on the island of Frisholmen . On a summer day, we also like to walk along the seafront promenade; there's a tiny harbor where fishmongers hawk smoked eel, mackerel, and fresh salmon.
