Active Pursuits in Karlskrona
Many Swedes visit Karlskrona during summer for its 30 beaches, 7 of which lie in the center. The most central, Stumholmen Beach is the best. This sandy beach, ideal for kids, has a bridge and diving tower, along with a restaurant. Next to the beach is the famous Marinmuseum.
Drägsö Beach is another favorite in the archipelago, lying only 5 minutes from the historic core and linked to the main island with a bridge. You'll find beaches and towering cliffs along with such activities as canoeing, water-skiing, and fishing.
Karlskrona also opens onto great waters for both saltwater and freshwater fishing. To become part of a fishing trip, call Senoren's Sportfishing Tours (tel. 0455/440-10), which takes fishermen to the far reaches of the archipelago. Hasslö Island Touring & Fishing Service (tel. 0455/33-21-24) also offers great fishing in freshwater streams or in the Baltic.
