Kashgar has plenty of culinary opportunities, from Western-style cafes serving tasty sandwiches to Uighur banquet halls, street food, and beyond. The nightmarket across from Id Kah Mosque in the streets east of Jiefang Bei Lu is lively and other good bets include the whole pigeon soup (¥15) to be found at a collection of small canteens across the street and about 300m (981 ft.) left out of the Chini Bagh Hotel; Yaba Gezi Dian (tel. 0998/222-2282), is the eighth canteen you'll come to and is recommended. As well as the two Western options listed below there's a Best Food Burger and a Dicos on Renmin Xi Lu and chances are you'll come across one of the ubiquitous John's Information Cafes; branches in both the Chini Bagh and Seman hotels serve half-decent fare at inexpensive prices (8am-midnight).
