Highly rated by both Golf Digest and the Golf Channel, this coconut palm–dotted, largely seafront course in windy Wailua has hosted three U.S. amateur championships. Along the makai (ocean) side of the main highway, the first nine holes were built in the 1930s; the late Kauai golf legend Toyo Shirai designed the second nine in 1961. Nonresident rates start at just $48 (plus $20 for a cart) for 18 holes. Facilities include a locker room with showers, driving range, practice greens, and club rentals.
