Although its namesake beach is not good for swimming, kids and quite a number of adults are happy to spend all day in the heated fantasy pool here. Stretching across two of the resort’s 13 lushly landscaped acres, the pool offers a lazily flowing river, sandy-bottomed hot tubs, a children’s area, twin water slides, and waterfalls. The individually owned condos (mostly two-bedroom/three-bathroom units) in the $200-million complex boast high-end kitchen appliances and luxurious finishes such as granite counters, Travertine stone tiles, and African mahogany cabinets. There’s room for the whole family, too: Most of the two-bedroom units are 1,300 square feet, while a few corner penthouses are 1,800 square feet; all units have washer/dryers and central A/C. The resort lies conveniently across the street from a Safeway grocery store and close to other shops and restaurants—but you’ll want to avoid the cheaper units facing the parking lot due to noise. Outrigger manages the most units here and operates the front desk, but be sure to compare rates (which vary widely by view) and cleaning fees with those of independently rented condos.
