The owners’ marital split led to a breakup of the two Kauai Pasta locations, but fortunately you can stick with both. Although the Lihue site changed its name to KP Lihue, both have kept essentially the same menus, emphasizing homemade pasta standards, such as chicken parm and fettuccine Alfredo, and meat specials, such as ossobuco or sous vide pork. The larger Kapaa locale also offers $10 lunch specials, a late-night lounge with its own menu (try the truffled prawn “ramen” with angel hair pasta), and, at dinner, pizzetta choices such as rosemary grilled chicken with Gorgonzola. Portions are generous at both sites, but plan to order at least one of the tasty sides to share—I recommend the truffle Parmesan fries with a variety of dipping sauces. The keiki (kids’) menus are a good deal too, from $5 pastas to $10 for grilled shrimp with mashed potatoes and vegetable.
