Though not actually on the sand, the open-air, oceanfront setting at the Waipouli Beach Resort is still memorable, as are the daily fresh-catch (grilled or pan-seared) and curry specials, the grilled kale salad with whipped Brie, and braised short ribs with bacon-truffle fried rice. Wednesdays are an ideal time to discover this culinary oasis, with live music and a special “chef’s choice” menu from 4 to 6pm. Note: Breakfast entrees are tasty but petite by local standards.
