Hiking -- Kazimierz Dolny is a walker's paradise. The tourist information office has put together four comfortable day walks, suitable for families, that leave from the center. One of the most popular follows the Vistula south to the village of Józefów. Pick up the free map "Kazimierz Dolny i okolice" at the tourist information office.

Cycling -- The same tourist map used for hiking also shows some great cycling trails that start out from the center and head out into the surrounding hills. Since rental places change by the season, check with the tourist office for where to get bikes and which routes are suited to your fitness level and interests. The terrain away from the river gets hilly fast, but most of the cycling trails are only moderately difficult and follow little-used country roads.

Boating -- One of the most popular pastimes in this river town is a cruise up and down the Vistula on big party boats that hold up to 200 people. To find the port, follow Nadwislanska out of town and take a right once you get to the river. Contact Rejsy po Wisle (tel. 81/881-01-35; www.rejsystatkiem.com.pl) for details.
