Torc Waterfall
A walk through sylvan woods, populated with red deer, brings you to this popular beauty spot. The 18m (60 ft.) falls are impressive, and well worth the 5-minute walk from the dedicated parking lot on the Ring of Kerry Road. More strenuous, but even more rewarding, is the climb up the 100 or so steps next to the Falls, which take you up to Friar’s Glen—so-called because it was a hideout for priests during Cromwell’s invasion—with its sweeping views across the Killarney Lakes. Fun fact: The river that feeds the Falls rises on a mountainside a few miles away; the source is evocatively known as the Devil’s Punchbowl.
